Links of Interest

Most of these links are either graphic design or technology related, but there also a few of my favorite and most frequently visited links here as well. I try to stay up-to-date on the technology in my field and I also love to see what's new in the world of Apple and tech in general. If you know of a link you think I would be interested, please send it to me.

Graphic Design

Bert Monroy

An amazing graphic artist that I truly admire. He can create stunning ultra-photorealistic compositions from scratch using only Photoshop and Illustrator.

NAPP

The National Association of Photoshop Professionals. Dedicated almost exclusively to training and education, NAPP delivers training and tutorial content in all kinds of ways, from the award-winning magazine Photoshop User, to the incredible Photoshop World Conference and Expo.

Technology

Hoax Busters

So before sending out those dire warnings about devastating new viruses, Trojans that eat the heart out of your system, or malicious software that can steal the computer right off your desk, check out Hoax Busters! In addition to describing hoaxes and chain letters found on the Internet, this site discusses how to recognize hoaxes, what to do about them, and some of the history of hoaxes on the Internet.

Digg

Digg is a technology news web site that combines social book marking, blogging, RSS, and non-hierarchical editorial control. With Digg, users submit stories for review, but rather than allowing an editor to decide which stories go on the home page, the users do.

TWiT

"Your first podcast of the week is the last word in tech." TWiT is "This Week in Tech", a weekly podcast hosted by Leo Laporte that covers the latest in tech news. I became hooked on this show after listening the my first episode. Leo is great host, very personable, funny, and a Mac user to boot! I look forward to downloading the latest episode every Monday.

Local Links

Huntsville, Alabama

The birthplace of Alabama in 1819, Huntsville became Americas space capital and remains one of the Souths fastest growing cities. With an estimated population of 260,000, it has one of the highest per capita incomes in the Southeast. If you're new to the area, or you're visiting, check this site out first for all the local info, maps, and links you'll need while in town.

NAVWC

The North Alabama Volkswagen Club. I've been a member of this club for quite some time now, about 2 years longer than I've owned my Volkswagen, a 1972 Super Beetle. I help out in the club by maintaining the web site, the Yahoo Group, and producing graphics for flyers, brochures, and T-shirts. The only thing better than owning a classic VW, is being a part of the VW community!

Whitesburg Baptist Church

I've been a member of the Caring Place for over 5 years now and Whitesburg Baptist is where I met my wonderful wife, Joy. They're one of the larger churches in Huntsville and they have lots of outreach programs for the community. Their web site is always current with the latest church news and activities.

Fun Stuff

Twenty Questions

Animal, vegetable or mineral? Twenty Questions is a site that bills itself as "an experiment in artificial intelligence." It works just like the simple game we all know well... you think of something then, by asking a series of questions, the CGI based program will try to guess what it is. Clever and a bit creepy, it's worth a look.

Bug Bytes

This is my blog which I started back in June of 2005, with the idea of it being a great way to document the restoration of my 1972 VW. But, without a lot of time or funds right now, the restoration is going slow. So after a brief lull, I decided to just use my blog like most everyone else does, to journal my thoughts (which are usually about VW's, games, or technology).

Cool Site of the Day

If you're the type who's forever in search of the next cool thing, check out the Cool Site of the Day. Here, you can access daily updates of what's cool and new on the Web. If you have some catching up to do on what's hot, try delving into the cool site archives.
